HRV shows wrong values after Clear Cache & Reload they are correct, but jumps back
O
Oliver
In the morning, I've been getting a HRV value that's too low for a few days now. (Compared to the data in Apple Health & Athlytics).
As a result, the recovery and the strain target are also calculated incorrectly.
When I run "Clear Cache & Reload all Data", the correct HRV is used.
But only until I perform another action (e.g. view the sleep) or if the app updates the data itself. Then it "jumps" back to the old - wrong - value.
I have the calculation set to "Apple Health" for HRV and RHR.
If I select Bevel's own calculation, the data is just as incorrect and the issue also the same. 🤷🏻♂️
1st Screenshot shows the right value (same HRV values in Health & Athlytics", 2nd the wrong one.

Refreshing uploads different data than a resync
Brittany Touchette
My bevel was not uploading the correct data from Apple health. So I tried to clear the cache and re-sync. When that was done the sleep from Apple still didn’t upload but my recovery had changed (increased). I then refreshed the page and my recovery decreased again. It seems like some strange data loop? My biggest concern now is that my recovery has been giving me the wrong data for weeks (some days it says my recovery was zero which doesn’t seem accurate). My second (original) concern is why won’t it pull the sleep data from Apple health?

Hi Brittany Touchette, let me try and help you with this.
Is this something that you can reproduce constantly? Are you able to send a screen recording of what it looks like from start to finish? If so, please send it to hello@bevel.health
Also, can you please send a screenshot of what your Sleep Data Sources look like in Bevel and Sleep data in Apple Health?
- Go to Bevel -> Profile -> Data Sources -> Sleep. Screenshot this view for me
- Go to Apple Health -> Sleep -> scroll down to "Show all Data" and tap it. Screenshot this view for me.
I want to verify what data is coming in from Bevel. Are you using any other apps to track your sleep?
Grey
Let me take a look here for you. A couple of questions to help me debug:
- What do you mean by this? When I run "Clear Cache & Reload all Data", the correct HRV is used. Is the data not correct when you pull to refresh? And how do you define "correct" in this case?
- What do you mean by "View the sleep"? Is this viewing sleep in Apple Health or in Bevel?
- Can you share a screenshot of Settings > Customization > Calculations?

Hello Grey,
1) No, the data is incorrect (too low). Only after I reload the data does it match the data from Athlytics and Apple Health.
2) I mean when I look at something else in the Bevel app. For example, I look at the body battery or the strain and so on.
Grey
Oliver: Are you recording mindfulness sessions throughout the day?
O
Oliver
Grey: No
Grey
Oliver: Are you able to reproduce this issue right now? Can you share a recording of it with me at hello@bevel.health?
I have an idea of why this is happening for you but want to confirm it first.
O
Oliver
Grey: Sure, but how do I record it?
Grey
Oliver: Here is how you can record screens on your iPhone https://support.apple.com/en-us/102653
O
Oliver
Grey: done, but the file is to large
Grey
Oliver: can you upload it to iCloud and share with me a link to it?
O
Oliver
Grey: Send by mail to hello@...
Grey
Oliver: Thank you. This is very helpful. Can you share a screenshot of this view before and after the data change?
Also, did you edit data sources in Bevel?
Grey
Ok I see the issue. Can you change Use RHR From to "Entire day"? Let me know if that fixes it for you.
O
Oliver
Grey see the screenshots below. The change to "Entire Day" at RHR does have no effect. The HRV is still switching.
The data sources are not changed.
O
Oliver
Grey: Okay, I have played around a little bit. If I set the HRV to "Entire sleep" in the settings, the problem seems to be solved.
Is that how it should be?
Grey
Oliver: Yes, that's correct.
To explain, when you use values from Apple Health, RHR is written at random times so you can't set it to Sleep or Meditation only. That's why you have to use Entire day for that.
I'll close this out for now. Let me know if you have any other questions.
