HRV data missing

I don’t have a recovery score because on nights when I sleep with my Oura ring gen 2, the HRV data is missing. (On nights when I wear my Apple Watch, the HRV data is fine.) The HRV data shows fine in the Oura and Apple Health apps, but Bevel does not have the Oura ring listed as a data source, even though it has it listed for other categories like heart rate. Is there a reason why it’s not working specifically for HRV?

It’s back to not working today, even if I manually run all four shortcuts.

Todd Wineland: Hi, can you please share which data is not showing for you on your Health Monitor?
T
Todd Wineland
Randell It’s recovery, same as yesterday. I followed all the steps you sent yesterday and it worked fine, but today it’s not receiving resting heart rate data even when I manually run that shortcut (I’ve tried many times). See attached screenshots.

Todd Wineland: I see you are missing your RHR. Let's verify this in Apple Health. Can you please go to Apple Health -> RHR -> Scroll down to the bottom, tap "Show all data" -> Tap on today's log -> Then screenshot the view for me.

Todd Wineland On your screenshot here, can you please tap on today’s log (August 26), then screenshot the view for me? also, let me know if the timestamp falls within your sleep period

Randell Which is the sleep period? I see in the shortcut it says 6am (it’s currently 5:49), but I have all four shortcuts set to run at 8am.
Randell
Todd Wineland I see. Your sleep period should be in Apple Health -> Sleep, see the sleep chart in there for the start time and end time.
Also, when you mentioned the shortcut, is it this same shortcut that we have posted in Reddit? https://www.reddit.com/r/bevelhealth/s/PrrEUzRHxX

Randell Yes these are the four shortcuts from the Reddit post you sent after I first messaged you two days ago with this problem. After setting them up, my recovery score showed fine. However after waking up yesterday, then again today, the recovery score is missing again. I have all four shortcuts automated to run at 8am, but even if I run them all manually, there’s still no recovery score. Not sure why it worked the first day but not since.

Meant to include screenshot of the four shortcuts.
Randell
Todd Wineland I see. Thanks for the screenshot and the additional details you hav provided.
I’d like to verify if your RHR data which has the timestamp of 6:00 AM falls within an “Awake” period on your sleep.
Can you please go to Apple Health -> Sleep -> Scroll down to the bottom, tap “Show all data” -> On the latest sleep data which is Aug 25-26 can you please tap “Awake” and screenshot the view for me?

Randell Is this what you wanted? Also, I’m still not showing any sleep data despite being up for nearly an hour. Not sure if that’s because of some sort of lag.
Randell
Todd Wineland Yep, looks like it does not fall within your sleep period which is why RHR data isn’t showing in Bevel and the app couldn’t calculate your Recovery score.
There are 2 options for you to fix this.
1st option: Go to Bevel -> Customization -> Calculation -> Change the RHR from “Entire Sleep” to “Entire Day.” Once done, go back to Bevel Profile -> Data Sources -> RHR -> Hide data source. Add your Apple Watch to the hidden data source so that it won't be included in the calculation moving forward.
2nd option: change your sync time for RHR, safest would be an hour or 30 minutes before you usually wake up
Randell
Todd Wineland For your sleep data today, is it not showing in Apple Health? it should be Aug 26-27
T
Todd Wineland
Randell That’s true. I’m noticing I’m not showing any sleep date for today right now, even though I’m POSITIVE it was showing like a half hour ago.
T
Todd Wineland
Randell This is what you asked me to do for both, correct?
Randell
Todd Wineland: Yes, that should be it. For your Sleep, how are you tracking it? Is it via Oura as well? Have you tried re-running the shortcut for it?
T
Todd Wineland
Randell Sometime Oura, sometimes Apple Watch, but Oura for the last few weeks. The fact that Apple Health is not currently pulling sleep data from the Oura ring today makes me think there’s a problem there. I will try resetting and reconnecting it tonight when I get home.
Randell
Todd Wineland: I see. Please do keep me posted on this.

I think that worked! Attaching the screenshot you asked for.

I have the same issue. My device does not directly write to apple health but does track HRV. Thus I manually add the value to apple health and Bevel correctly shows my iPhones Apple Health as a data source for HRV with the correct date for the latest entry, but does not calculate a recovery score, saying it does not have HRV values.
Randell
Samuel Koch: Hi, can you please go to Bevel -> Profile -> Customization -> Calculation, screenshot the view for me?
Also, when you manually added the HRV data, do you remember if you timed it within your Sleep period or outside of your Sleep period?
S
Samuel Koch
Randell Here you go.
And yes, I had suspected that, so I always set the time of the entry to a time within my sleep period
Randell
Samuel Koch: Gotcha, for this- since you are syncing your HRV data manually, you will have to change the HRV Method to "Apple Health" so it directly pulls in the value that is in Apple Health.
Also, do you have any other data source that is writing HRV to Apple Health?

Hi Todd Wineland, Were you able to check the step-by-step guide we posted on Reddit about syncing your Oura data to Apple Health so Bevel can pick it up https://www.reddit.com/r/bevelhealth/comments/1jiy0kn/oura_bevel_wearable_setup_guide/
Also, do you mind sharing your HRV raw data in Apple Health for me? Go to Apple Health -> HRV -> Scroll down to the bottom, tap "Show all data" -> Tap on today's log, then screenshot the view.
