Improve Biology “Compare To” Functionality
planned (tbd)
Kyle Rich
Problem Statement:
The “Compare To” feature in the “Biology” section is an invaluable tool for users to identify trends and correlations between metrics, greatly enhancing their ability to make informed decisions about their training. However, this functionality is currently limited to the “Biology” section, leaving users without similar capabilities across the rest of the app. Other comparable apps, such as HealthFit and Athlytic, also lack this functionality, presenting a unique opportunity for differentiation.
User Story:
As a runner who uses the app daily, I want the “Compare To” feature to be available across the entire app so that I can analyze how different metrics relate to one another in all contexts, enabling me to make well-informed training decisions and improve my performance.
Acceptance Criteria:
- Add the “Compare To” button to all relevant graphs and sections throughout the app.
- Ensure users can seamlessly overlay multiple metrics on any graph to explore correlations.
- Maintain a consistent user experience, mirroring the “Biology” implementation.
Stretch Goal:
User Story:
As a runner who uses the app daily, I want a dedicated page or large graph where I can select and overlay up to three metrics over a custom timeline. This will allow me to explore relationships between metrics with maximum flexibility, identify both short-term and long-term trends, and make data-driven adjustments to my training plans.
Stretch Requirements:
- Develop a standalone “Metric Comparison” page accessible from the main menu or dashboard.
- Allow users to select any three metrics from the app, customize the timeline, and adjust display settings (e.g., smoothing, scales).
- Include the ability to save, export, or bookmark specific comparisons for easy future reference.
Value Proposition:
Expanding the “Compare To” feature across the app and adding a dedicated comparison tool will position this app as a leader in fitness analytics, providing runners and other users with an unmatched ability to understand and act on their data. This functionality will not only enhance user satisfaction but also attract new users seeking advanced data insights.

Thank you for such a well thought out & product-forward feature request, Kyle Rich! It would be great to expand our biology comparison feature to other metrics. We can add this to the roadmap :)
