Bug in the primary sleep tab

I over slept this morning about 1 hour. My typical wake up time is 4:30am. I slept in until about 5:30am. My Apple Watch only tracked my sleep up to 4:30am due to the sleep alarm being disabled. Upon waking, I went into my Apple Health and added “asleep” for the extra hour I over slept. Bevel displays this added time as a blank area with the rest of the sleep data squished over.

Bevel doesn’t display correct amount of sleep
Brian Clark
The additional time at the end of the apple health screenshot was me falling back asleep. Apple Health correctly detects that sleep from my watch. Bevel only shows the initial sleep period.

Sleep inaccurate

If there is a awake gap in between during the night, Bevel only takes in the first half before any interruptions, while I usually wake up and pee in the middle, been getting poor recovery for weeks…

I've been using Bevel since May (not sure cuz the scores dates back a while automatically). This sleep stage problem occurs whenever I have a break longer than a few minutes in the middle of sleep, but Apple Health does present the sleep as a whole with the duration of 9h11m for the night above for example.

Nigel Xie: Thanks Nigel. I am jumping in for Randell here. Can you share 2 more screenshots with us?
- Apple Health > Sleep > This night and screenshot the sleep stages
- Apple Health > Sleep > Scroll down and tap Show all data
They should look like something below.
Nigel Xie
Hey Grey, thanks for the message. I tried to delete the awake intervals and re-sync for the day in the screenshot so they are not consistent in the Health and Bevel anymore. I have also been having no problem syncing sleep since then . I'll def come back here with all the data intact, screenshotted once this occurs again.
Grey
Nigel Xie: Ok thank you.
I'll close this for now, but please let me know if it happens again.
Nigel Xie
Yes no problem, attached are all the screenshots you mentioned.
Randell
Hi Nigel Xie, Thank you for your feedback.
Can you please send a screenshot of your Sleep Stages in Bevel? Go to Bevel -> Sleep -> Primary Sleep -> Screenshot "Sleep Contributors" and "Sleep Stages" for me.
Also, how long have you been using Bevel? Can you please send a screenshot of your Recovery and Strain Trends as well? Please go to Bevel -> Recovery -> scroll down to "Trends" and screenshot this view for me. The same applies to the Strain Trends screenshot
Randell
Hi Brian Clark, Did you add your additional nap/sleep through Bevel or Apple Health?
This might be a bug that we are aware of and currently working on a fix, but I want to confirm something first.
Brian Clark
Randell No, I did not add any manual entry at all. I just fell back asleep while browsing on the phone. I was awake for maybe 5 to 10 minutes, never got out of bed, then fell asleep again for a while.
Randell
Brian Clark: Hi Brian, are you using any other apps or devices to track your sleep? or Just Apple Watch?
Can you please send a screenshot of what your "Show all data" in Apple Health looks like for Sleep on this particular day? You can find this on Apple Health -> Sleep -> Scroll Down -> Tap "Show all Data". Screenshot this view for me
Also, can you please send a screenshot of what your Data Sources in Sleep look like in Bevel? you can go to Bevel -> Profile -> Data Sources -> Tap on Sleep and screenshot the view for me. Thanks!
Brian Clark
Randell I use the watch and AutoSleep. I’ve attached 2 screenshots, I hope.
Randell
Brian Clark: Hi Thanks for the screenshot. Can you please force-close the app and open it up again for me and see if you have any Data Sources from your sleep? It seems like your Data Sources aren't being pulled in when you did the screenshot.
Do you intend to use AutoSleep to track your sleep? or just Apple Watch?
Also, can you please include a screenshot again but this time just do it when you are in the "Data Sources". Bevel -> Profile -> Data Sources. Screenshot this view for me
Brian Clark
Randell attached two screenshots. I intended to just use the watch to track sleep.
Randell
Brian Clark: I see. Can you please go ahead and reorganize your Data Sources in Sleep for me?
If you are using your Apple Watch Ultra, please go ahead and put it on your 1st Priority source (The one with the recent timestamp of 7/15/24) and next should be your Phone with the same timestamp
Also, since you only intend to use your Apple Watch to track your sleep, I suggest that you put your AutoSleep into the "Hide Data Sources" or disable it from writing data on your Apple Health.
Brian Clark
Randell Ok, this is what I have now. Let me know if this looks good.
Randell
Brian Clark Thanks, that looks good now. Can you please check your Sleep data in Bevel if it matches with your Apple Health data now?
Brian Clark
Randell still doesn’t seem to match. Attached ss.
Randell
Brian Clark: Can you please check your Apple Health Sleep data -> "Show all Data" if Autosleep's log is still in there? If so, Can you please delete that log? Since you are only tracking your Sleep with your Apple Watch Ultra
Brian Clark
Randell OK deleting AutoSleep’s written data for 14th and 15th (today), made the sleep for both days line up correctly. However, you may have an off-by-one or something since both days are off by exactly 1 minute. 😅
Randell
Brian Clark: Hi Brian, thanks for the update. Let me close this ticket for you now.
For the other concern of the time being off for about a minute or two, is an issue that we are aware of and currently checking.
Brian Clark
Randell thanks for your help! Good to see great support like this.
