I would love to be able to only use one app for viewing and evaluating my workouts. This is a suggestion to add the following to the activity view:
- More data fields such as running/cycling power, cadence. Maybe they could be added as small cards shown below together with the cards currently shown below the heart rate graph.
- Clicking these would expand a graph showing data for the whole workout.
- Optional split markers in above said graph that can view km markers or segment markers (for structured workouts such as intervals). HealthFit has a nice implementation for this. This way you could clearly see for instance how HR increases during each interval).
- Make it possible to view the HR graph color coded as per your zones. I saw that this feature request already exists. In order to keep it clean, maybe view this when clicking Avg HR card or the current HR graph.
- Add possibility to overlay split markers and/or segment markers in the map view when expanded.
- Add possibility to view a color coded gps track when expanding the map view (HR, Pace, Elevation). As in Garmin connect and WorkOutDoors.
- Add the possibility to give individual workouts a custom name or tag. This is the number one feature I miss compared to my Garmin watch. In times of low motivation or when you’re uninspired it’s nice to go back and see what you have done before, but the name “Outdoor Running” doesn’t say much. I guess there might be a limitation in apple health that doesn’t allow saving names globally since almost no app does it, but it would be nice if it could be implemented somehow.
Keep up the hard work! 😊

For cyclists pace doesn’t really make sense and speed would be better. I also would like to see 1,267 for elevation instead of 1.2K.

When you do swimming details, it'd be nice to separate out pace/strikes/Swolf for different swimming styles... HealthFit does a pretty good job here. But really special would be if you'd then in perspective be able to aggregate this data over time and point out trends, then you'd outdone them.

As a cyclist I would love to see a workout section that would break down the metrics from my ride that I can review afterwards. Power avg and max, speed, cadence, HR recovery and VO2 max. Is there a way to adjust HR zones because what is default isn’t accurate for me?

I like the possibility in the gentler streak app to change the y axis by just selecting any other metric like distance. I don’t want to see only the durations in hours as y value.

Hi Alexander Tollinger, We have a planned ticket for this one already. Let me merge this ticket for you. Thanks for the suggestion!

What is the meaning of the Muscular–Cardio percentages under Workout Breakdown?
Quinn Comendant
I don't quite understand the Muscular–Cardio split percentages under Workout Breakdown.
If I were to guess, I would say:
- Muscularexercises are those whose effort were measured using the AW's accelerometer?
- Cardioexercises are those whose effort was calculated using HR alone?
Is this correct?
If so, perhaps “Cardio” isn't the best term, since people use that word to describe exercises for improving cardiovascular fitness, e.g., continuous zone-2 cycling, or zone-5 HIIT. I wouldn't count any exercise done during a weightlifting workout as “cardio.”
In any case, the actionable part of this feature request: This section could perhaps use an explainer under a ℹ️ button.
Grey
That's correct. We'll add an explainer to the workout section when revamping activities details. I'll merge it with an existing ticket.
As for the word Cardio, I'll think what's a more appropriate term here. But if you have any ideas, please let me know. Thanks

Grey If that's the case (Muscular==accelerometer measurement, Cardio==HR measurement), then I'm wondering how useful that distinction is for users and if it should be featured as prominently as it is.
Just to think this through, consider two nearly identical exercises:
- Pull up– would be a “Cardio” exercise because the wrists are stationary.
- Lat pulldown(on a cable machine) – would be a “Muscular” exercise because the AW will detect the arms moving.
These exercises are identical (well, there some differences in core activation, etc, but that difference can't be measured on a Muscular–Cardio spectrum). I'm wondering why it would be useful for users to see the proportion of exercises that fit in one category or another? So, if the user did 10 reps of each of these exercises, it would display
50% Muscular / 50% Cardio
– but that doesn't really say anything useful, does it?What might be useful is knowing which exercises the accelerometer was used for, which is an indicator that the data for those exercises may be more accurate. You could present this data to indicate these exercises with asterisks and this footnote:
> * Accelerometer used to measure effort.
Or use a color or icon to indicate Accelerometer- vs HR-based measurements, instead of asterisks.
Or, if you want to keep the % proportions, just use more accurate names:
- 59% Accelerometer-based measurements
- 41% Heart-rate-based measurements
🙂
