Coaching does not take into account female hormones

Coaching will often say “poor recovery” or “HRV is low” and the reasoning says it can be a sign of high stress, low fitness, or an underlying health condition. In reality it could also be a perfectly normal part of the female cycle and it’s nothing to worry about. It would be nice if coaching could be a bit more targeted to women as well.

Hi Brittany Touchette & Chelsey Chen, thank you for the feedback! We are actively thinking about integrating women's health insights, coaching & cycle effects on recovery scores. This is on our roadmap, stay tuned!

Adjustment of values to the female cycle

There are more and more studies showing that stress levels, cortisol release, PMS and the personal well-being of women (many, not all! So please make it available separately) it makes sense to carry out the training in a cycle-oriented manner. In other words, to gradually calm down strength and power in the ovulation phase (here also a higher target value to be achieved for the day) and then gradually quieter in the luteal phase until the period comes.
In the topping list, I saw that glucose tracking should also be included. If it was then pointed out from which period of the cycle the body makes worse use of glucose in the blood and could even point out that now is the time when that changes, that would be great! There are more and more female athletes who do not constantly check their blood sugar, if the values could then be used to generate an entry in the journal that carbohydrates should be reduced from time X, that would be crazy good!
And if it were then dynamically adaptable in the journal that less carbohydrates should be eaten from time x and could then be evaluated to what extent this has an effect on everything. Then you would create an incredible advantage for women who find it very difficult to deal with it!

I was thinking about this earlier and tried to sift through the feedback board to see if I was the only one noticing this—glad I am not! I would also love this feature in the future. I have a few years’ worth of Apple Health data integrated with Bevel and noticed that my recovery scores the week before menstruation are always low due to higher wrist temperatures and RHR. While there are undoubtedly some days I feel crummier due to PMS, there are also days that I feel perfectly fine, but my recovery scores would always read the higher temperature/RHR combination as poor recovery.
