Edit food nutrition facts & scan label

I am adding a comment that is most certainly in line with what has been said here. Personally, I eat things without a bar code but where there is a nutritional value label (which changes with each meal since the meal is never the same). Would it be possible for there to be an automatic transfer of information with this type of label? Like an AI or an OCR that repeats information and makes it understandable for the app? All this without having to enter the dish in a database... (It would be of no interest here since, I insist, it's never the same meals. It would be of no use to anyone else, or just by pure coincidence (exceptional). However, on the label you have to be careful because you see the values for “one position” and next to it you can see “for 100g” written. OCR could be confusing, knowing that there is only one table of nutritional values.
Thanks to the team last updated this app, I've been at it for a few months, I've already made requests to change the app and I must say it's impressive how quickly you act with the updates!

Log with a picture of a nutrition label

I have recently subscribed to Trifecta meal delivery and it's been fantastic. Bevel seems to have about 1/3 in the database, but the other 2/3 are missing. I tried taking a picture of the meal and it's pretty inaccurate. It's counting about double the calories :(
I would LOVE a way to take a picture of the nutrition label and create the meal locally for future reference. Or even just name the meal and take a picture of the nutrition label each time.
Cronometer has this ability and it's slick, but Bevel's UI/UX is so far superior.
Please consider adding this feature.
Thank you!

Change nutrition label locally

Many scanned products don’t show added sugar, it would be great to go and edit the nutrition label to make it more accurate.

Manually Adjust Macros

It would be nice to manually adjust my macros. Some of my meals come from meal prep companies, so all I need to do (on something like MyFitnessPal) is put in the exact Fat, Carbs, and Protein in grams.
Would love to see this on Bevel!

Automatic Nutritional Value Extraction from Images
Denis Eckert
If I scan a barcode and the food item is not in the database, it would be great if I could simply take a picture of the average nutritional values, and the AI would extract the data automatically! I’m not sure if this feature already exists, but I’ve tried it with a few items, and unfortunately, it didn’t work.

Improved tracking of food + supplements

If you track a caffeinated beverage in the new diet, it could be immediately synchronized in the journal how much caffeine you have already consumed today.
Improved barcode recognition and/or photography of nutritional value tables: I have dietary supplements from Natural Elements and I can't add them because they are not recognized neither the barcode nor that the table could be photographed to insert the data.

Improve barcode reader: upload your own image, prompt when barcode is not recognized

Rather than having to stand there for minutes adjusting the lighting and trying to figure out if the barcode is not in the database or it's just me, it would be helpful to get a responsive barcode reader that tells me whether the barcode is not in the database, the image is out of focus, etc. It would also help if I could snap a photo of a barcode I took previously or grabbed online rather than having to rely on the current camera as well. It is super annoying to have to type a barcode and sometimes it's hard to tell which numbers are a part of the barcode or not since there are sometimes small numbers on the side, etc. It could be helpful to have a diagram that explains what numbers related to the barcode are needed.

Agreed. I'd also like to be able to add custom weight to a volume serving. I am not going to measure out in liters or cups, I only care about grams.

Hi Patrick Lienin & Valentin V., thank you for the feedback and we appreciate the willingness to help out on label correction. We plan to enable editing of nutrition facts in the next version of Nutrition - stay tuned!

Scanned verified food is not accurate + liquids intake not in journal

Hello, first of all thank you for the great app and its new update focused on nutrition! You have definitely not chosen the easy way with that one.
I realized that some of the verified food is not accurate. As an example, my 6D Sports Nutrition Whey Protein Strawberry shake. When scanned, it’s shows up and the official recommended portion is correct (35g) but the nutritional values are around 2.85 times too low. And the sodium is too high.
Additionally, as the powder needs to be diluted in 250 ml of water, I have of course added that amount of liquids to my food log. However, this is not sent over to the journal’s hydration section.
I can imagine the amount of work it is to offer such a database… perhaps we could give a little help by having the capability to edit verified foods or to create them from scratch.
