Hydration Overhaul
planned (tbd)
Johnny McDonald
The idea of tracking water intake is super important, but I think it could be reworked to be more efficient, nudge you to drink, and have overall more detailed tracking! I will be using the app WaterMinder as a reference for a lot of these changes as they have it done pretty well, and it would be dope to see their level of detail and ease integrated into bevel.
- Move hydration out of Journal and integrate it with the food logging section of the app! To me it makes much more sense because it’s more convenient to log main consumables through the + tab at the bottom of the screen. Hydration is just as common as food intake for everyone and makes sense to be easily accessible along side food.
- Push notifications for drinking water! This would only happen if you are behind where you should be at any given period throughout the day, and it would help you pace your water drinking instead of cramming it all at the end of the day before you sleep!
- Add a Variable Hydration option! Depending on your Strain and physical output during any given day, the amount you should be hydrating changes pretty drastically. It would be cool if there was an option where the water goal for the day variably increases to match the actual amount of water you should be consuming based on your activity!
- Hydration should be more than just water! It has the potential to be all sorts of drinks. You would be able to log energy drinks, coffee, tea, alcohol, etc. all within the hydration section. These things contribute to your hydration too, and it would be nice to be able to see how much of each thing makes up your daily hydration. Logging things like coffee would also sync up with your caffeine in the journal, same for alcohol. It’s just more convenient because the initial logging of it all is in one place.
- Hydration Complication for Apple Watch is a must. A progress bar/progress dial with either a percentage or number of oz consumed would be huge for keeping track throughout the day while simply looking at my wrist instead of opening my phone and going to the app.
- Add the ability to log water on the Apple Watch directly! When you click on the complication on the watch face, it should take you to a screen where you can add water right to your log. It would be easier to convince some people to log it if done this way.
- Allow us to define the end of a day for logging! I along with many other people have very irregular sleep schedules due to irregular work, so water logging for a day abruptly concluding at midnight doesn’t work for us. Being able to set a new default (I.E. 3:00 am, 6:30 am, etc.) would make logging it much more concise and accurate. You could even give us the option to make our end of the day whenever we fall asleep. The app knows when we go to bed, so it could conclude that we are then done logging out water for the previous day at that point.
I know this is a massive wall of text, and a ton of work, but all of these things would make logging hydration super efficient. I appreciate the time, and can’t wait to see the future of this app, I’m a really big fan of the concept and am excited to track my life with it! Thanks for your consideration.

Hydration: define common containers & quick log
Joseph Azrak
I know we can change the default quick-log volume, but I usually drink water from more than just one container!
-> Glasses, mugs, maybe different water bottles..
I'd love a simple option where we can define our own 'custom containers' & tap to quick-log. E.g., in the modal I might tap "Big water bottle > Log" or "Cup > Log".
It would save me having to memorize the ml value for each of my cups and water bottles. I think this is literally the biggest obstacle to me using the hydration tracker.

Make Hydration Tracking Easier

I am consistently drinking enough water but never logging it because it’s somewhat complicated to add. It would be super helpful to have the process simplified or even added to the main screen of the app.

Simplify edit in Hydration

When you select a custom entry for hydration and select edit, it keeps your default value and you have to backspace to remove it before adding the new amount. Since you have selected edit, it would be nice if you assumed that the value should be replaced and started with nothing so that you don’t have to remove the default value:

Currently when you click at historical, you only have one option, I would like to see a few few quick buttons like 20 ounces 24 ounces 1 L because typically I count the amount of water bottles that I have. When I track in the morning, I would just like to be able to tap the one leader button four or five times if I had those amount of water bottles.

Dynamic Hydration Tracking & Intelligent Reminders

Brendon Scheiber
As a daily Bevel user, I’ve noticed that maintaining proper hydration is a major struggle for many people, myself included. Since dehydration directly impacts key metrics like HRV and Recovery, I believe Bevel would be the perfect platform to tackle this issue.
I would like to suggest a "Smart Hydration" feature. Instead of a static water tracker, this feature should be dynamic: it should adjust the daily hydration goal in real-time based on the user's Strain (activity level), sweat loss during workouts, and even ambient temperature. Additionally, proactive notifications reminding users to hydrate—especially when the app detects high physical exertion—would be a game-changer for optimizing recovery. This would add immense value to the daily health management experience for the entire Bevel community.

Hydration sources

It would be great if the hydration tracker showed what the source of the water is. My app just shows logs from apple health. It would be great if it could show what food log it was from (ie 200ml from a cup of tea etc).

Good morning,
Can you add a drinking reminder notification. Indeed, for people like me who don't drink much it can be interesting.
Beautiful day
