Option for beta blocker/medication that effects heart rates
planned (tbd)

The app is heavy with using heart rate but those on beta blockers have restricted heart rate max. There is an option in Apple heath to take beta blockers into consideration and lower the expectation for vo2 max etc. For this app it could increase the sensitivity in the algorithm as well as slightly weight towards time. Ie while doing cardio the heart rate spike will be lower but that doesn’t necessarily mean intensity was lower so someone off beta blockers would spike to 110bpm while those on beta blockers would remain at around 90 but still elevated from baseline.

Use metropolol

I use metropolol, a beta blocker that lowers my heart rate, even when exercising. Can I change this in the app?

Hi Marieke, not at the moment, but we have had similar requests. I am going to merge this with the other ticket.

Account for medications for heart rate

I take a medication that raises my heart rate. Loads of apps account for medications that lower your heart rate but few if any account for stimulants. It doesn’t need to be super accurate but an average would help me get a clearer view of my vo2 max and would stop Bevel from telling me that my resting heart rate is poor.
This could literally just be numerical input to allow me to enter how much the medication I’m taking raises it vs my prior rate as a v1 feature
Thanks.

Thank you for the suggestion. I can add this to the roadmap, but I will need to spend some time thinking about how to alter the sensitivity of these scores based on medication.
This will likely be a big lift since I want to ensure the scores are reliable even with this option toggled on.
