Automatic rep and strength training logger
planned (tbd)
Grigoriy Spirin
I truly love and am a Superset devotee, but the new manual rep logger feature for strength training is like last century?
Honestly, didn't want to advertise to anyone, but have you considered automatic exercise and rep detection like atlon.app or trainfitness.ai does? Automatic recognition in the gym really works, I've tested it, very handy.

Apple Watch form tracker

Form of exercise tracking in real time - done excellently by app called Gymatic… tracks range, form, and tempo per rep… counts rep… automatically recognising the exercise and tracking it… can train movements… logs calorie burn through heart rate to apple health

Auto rep counter

Use the accelerometer to detect reps for different exercises. A short haptic vibration after each rep and a longer buzz when the set is complete. It should have the option to auto start and stop each set and also give you an auto rest break.

Smart gym exercise detection via apple watch

A feature like in the app „Train Fitness“ which recognizes every exercise based on the motion data of your apple watch. It gets the right number of sets and exercises.. Very useful. It replaces the old manual tracking..

Auto detect workout

Some apps offer auto detection workouts like woop, my friends said it’s fairly well done and consistent with detecting ie gym workout vs running. Other apps offer auto tracking of reps and setts all you have to do is create a workout. Is this something we can hope for? Short term or long term?

Repetition and exercise detection

I World Like to See Repetition detection in the strength builder. Also a further step would be a exercise detection.

Ability to log workouts without a plan
Marek Ziolkowski
Similar to Garmin Strength training, be able to log a workout on the fly without pre-defined sets, just record reps, weight and laps for rest. Quite often I workout without a plan (but have set in my head), and also without my phone.
Would be great to just log the "metadata" (reps, weight and rest), and edit the workout later.

Apologies if I am hijacking, I wanted to add to the discussion that I created another request about improving the strength training logger but the approach I had found interesting was from an iPhone/Android app that instead of detecting the reps it was imposing them and you had to follow. You could customize before starting if you wanted the reps to be slow, normal or fast and then for each exercise you started a 3D animation along with an up/down or push/pull etc progress bar and a reps countdown or timer. Other watch apps (such as meditation apps) impose a rhythm/reps with much simpler animations, vibrations and sound notifications.
I find this approach interesting as opposed to automatic detection for two main reasons :
- avoids wrong detection
- tells you how much time your workout will last when creating it
What do you think ?

Resistance training automated
Tomek Gniewko Bielak
It would be cool to have to option for less admin heavy resistance training.
Perfect scenario would be to choose the workout I am doing along with weights prior to training and the watch to automatically detect and calculate everything along with calories and reps etc, obviously you would have to stick to the order of your workout which you chosen otherwise the algorithym wouldn’t work
If the perfect scenario would not be possible as it too difficult then maybe choosing your workout and algorithm to calculate your calories burnt. (Simplified gym workout)
As mentioned in my other post - resistance training is also over estimates for calories burned for most if not all people, so I would love bevel to be the app which fixes this, at the moment woop seems to be the only one that gives me results closer to what I believe is accurate. I usually get half of the calories burned on there comparison to Apple workout.

Yup, this will be fixed with automatic rep detection. I will merge it with that ticket.
