Hi Bevel Team & Community,
I recently discovered your app and I absolutely love the direction you’re heading — especially how clean, structured, and data-driven the experience is. After testing a wide range of platforms, Bevel finally feels like something I could fully commit to. Since I heard you’re actively engaging with the community, I wanted to share a few feature ideas that could elevate Bevel even further — especially for hybrid athletes and long-term planners like myself.
🏋️‍♂️ Enhanced Strength Trainer (Main Request)
The current strength training section is a great start — but I believe Bevel has the potential to build the most intelligent, adaptive strength system on the market. Here’s what would take it to the next level in my opinion:
  1. Muscle-Specific RIR Tracking (0–4)
It seems Bevel already taps into the Apple Health RPE field, which is fantastic — but what if users could do the same per muscle group?
That would allow for much more accurate load tracking, especially in whole-body splits or hybrid periodization. For example:
• In a run-focused week, a user may still push upper body to RIR 1–2, but would need to keep lower body at RIR 3–4 to prevent interference with running performance.
This kind of specificity would unlock real training precision, without adding unnecessary complexity.
  1. Mesocycle Planning & A/B Periodization with Peak/Deload Support
Let users define multi-week training blocks with customized purposes:
• Week A = Run-dominant → lower-body-strength maintenance
• Week B = Strength-dominant → running volume reduced, hypertrophy focus
Even better: support Peak Weeks (e.g. RIR 0 with full volume) and Deloads (reduced volume, RIR 3–4) within this A/B framework.
Let users define:
• Cycle length (e.g. 6 weeks)
• Purpose of each week (Base, Peak, Deload)
• Per-body-region goals
Bevel could then adapt strain targets, RIR suggestions, and load progression accordingly — while respecting the hybrid nature of many training plans.
  1. Pre-Workout Check-In
Before starting a session, ask for:
• Muscle-specific soreness
• General readiness
Bevel could then suggest:
• Default progression (if fully recovered)
• Adjusted progression (if fatigued or sore)
Optional toggle: “Always default to max plan but prompt if risks are detected.”
  1. Progressive Weak-Link Detection
Over a full mesocycle (e.g. 6 weeks), Bevel could analyze:
• Neglected muscle groups or adaptations (e.g. VO2max, long runs, posterior chain)
• Recovery trends by area
→ Then suggest refinements for the next cycle — more volume, more rest, more specificity.
This avoids short-term volatility while still being responsive to long-term trends.
  1. Muscle Focus Logic & Expanded Grouping
Let users select 1–2 primary focus areas per cycle (e.g. “hamstrings & shoulders”) and Bevel:
• Suggests movements
• Adjusts volume intelligently
• Reinforces progressive overload
Bevel already shines by allowing users to create their own exercises!!!
— but for this feature to work at its full potential, a bit more specificity would go a long way:
• e.g. -> Chest: differentiate between full chest, upper chest, lower chest
• Additional valuable tags:
• Knee stability (e.g. TKEs, step-downs)
• Foot strength (for runners, trail athletes)
• Forearms & grip strength (for climbers, lifters)
• Neck, calves, etc.
The aim isn’t to overwhelm — just to surface the distinctions that matter most for intelligent programming, recovery tracking, and progression planning.
🍽 Timeline Optimization: Meal Grouping
• Group all items consumed in one session into a single meal entry
• Show an overall meal score.
• Tapping the meal opens a breakdown.
→ Cleaner timeline, more meaningful insights at a glance.
📊 Optional Health Data Integration
Morning Blood Pressure
• Log first-morning BP (pre-food/caffeine)
• Integrate it into recovery or readiness scoring
This would offer deeper insight for users managing endurance stress, blood volume trends, or systemic recovery.
Even more of a Personal Opinion: BP-Monitoring should be optional (toggle), always contextual, so it can help asses systemic recovery and strain.
Built-In Weight Logging
• Let users weigh in directly via Bevel
• Show grid markers (monthly) for consistency (like macros)
• Optional trend lines to correlate with energy balance, sleep, or HRV
→ All without overwhelming users who prefer minimal input.
✅ Summary: Why This Matters
Bevel is already ahead of the curve. With a more intelligent strength framework, deeper recovery logic, and long-term adaptation support, it could become the definitive training platform for serious hybrid athletes, data-minded planners, and performance minimalists alike.
I don’t know how much of this is useful to you, but I’ve thought about it quite a bit — and just hope it helps Bevel get even better.
Thanks for building something so clean, thoughtful, and full of potential.
Cheers,
David
