Strength Training Strain

Calculate strength training workout strain in addition to traditional cardiovascular strain. Perhaps add a post workout form to insert total weight lifted, total sets and reps to then calculate muscle strain. Or one day implement strength training workouts in app to build workouts and have live sets and reps. (Integrate Hevy app like workout natively to get strength training info from users, or maybe pull workout info from apps like Hevy and Strong)

I am excited for this feature to better reflect strain caused by strength training, but I would just add that I would personally prefer Superset not to try to be the app for logging all of the strength training. I’d instead prefer to import the workout from Apple Health then I could edit the workout in Superset to add total weight volume. I use a peloton guide and at the end it will give me a summary of something like 2,800lbs in 140 reps. I personally will not take the time to enter each individual exercise with reps & weights. There are apps dedicated to this (or pencil and paper!)
Take the total volume and allow me to enter RPE so that Superset can factor that in to my recovery needs & strain capabilities. I could be the oddball that doesn’t want one app to rule them all… do what is right for your customers, but that’s what I’d love!

Brady: Thanks for the suggestion, Brady! I see where you’re coming from, but this might be tricky for the first version as I need more granular data, such as your rep, set, active time, weight, velocity, etc., to be able to calculate an accurate Strain score.
However, I see your use case and will probably add an option in the future where users can manually input data and estimate strength strain scores.
The ideal scenario is if Apple Health supported strength training, but I don’t think we’ll get that for at least another 6+ months, and most likely even longer.

Grey: ideally would be great if apps like Hevy, or strong would export all the data to superset directly. I know Hevy exports to strava so I’m sure they’d be open to export to Superset. But superset needs to be a platform to export too and not sure if that’s on the roadmap.

David: Import/export might be a feature for later versions of Strength Training. The complication is that I’m unsure if the data export from apps like Hevy or Strong is comprehensive enough for the Strain score.
Superset uses other data, such as acceleration and active time, to calculate Strain.

I actually like the Whoop strength trainer start and stop for sets, but that's about all. The calculated strain for exercises isn't accurate and the muscular/cardio ratio is off. Exercise set is also pretty limited. It's probably going to be a very difficult thing to do well.

A Strengh Training feature, similar to Whoop’s would be a game changer feature.
Whoop’s one is a mess since you need to log (start and stop) each set with the phone but with AW it would be great since you could potentially log it with it directly.

Markus Eisen There is an app I’ve used for auto-rep tracking called Train Fitness. I think it uses a combo of the gyroscope, accelerometer and a bunch of mapped out movements fed through an AI model to track weightlifting movements (and really accurately too). Probably no small feat to develop, but I too wonder if there’d be any way to pull this info to track muscular load within Superset.
