Update Strength Template based on previous weights + reps
complete

I generally enjoy using the Strength Trainer (and it also has finally pushed me to actually define a routine I want to follow). There is however one stupid wrinkly that I fall into all the time: After finishing the workout, I quickly scroll the the muscle groups displayed on the Watch and then tap the X in the top left corner (same as in Apple's workout app). This however discards any updates to the workout. What I would now wish was just being able to go into the iPhone app, go into the workout details and apply the values from there. Am I making clear what I mean here?

Thanks for being very active Leah!
Quick question, my suggestion was merged under this post marked as complete, does this mean that it is being addressed in an update?
If it means it is already available as a feature, I wanted to clarify that I am speaking about the Apple watch app here.
With regards to the bench press example I used, I will give a work flow of an app I now use for strength training.
lets say it is bench press, when I click on it , it will show pre filled the weight and sets of my previous set from the last instance of me doing the exercise, regardless of template. If I swipe up, it will show me my progression from last two days of the exercise. This is very good to help me plan progression for current set.
This way, I dont have to reach for my phone at all.

Apple Watch - see last weight and reps
Kevin Thomas
To make bevel Apple Watch app function as an I depended device during strength training, when I click on an exercise like let’s say bench press, I should be able to see what weight and reps I did the for the last instance of the exercise, so that I can decide how I progressively overload.

Strength trainer small features

There are some small things that would be nice to have in strength trainer: the ability to automatically add the weight/rep amount from the previous workout, the ability to tap out of changing the weight by just tapping above the popup, instead of needing to tap the down caret (which i often confuse with the side caret).

Updates made in 2.5.0 related to this post:
- Weight Defaults: Your added exercises will now preload with the weight used in your last performed set instead of defaulting to 20lbs.
- Advanced Strength Settings: Set a default rest time, disable set-by-set confirmation of weights and reps, and auto-fill new sets using your last set's values.
Already possible prior to 2.5.0:
- Ability to manually update strength templates after each workout both on the phone and watch.

Leah I’m writing to clarify this highly requested feature.
In the suggestion below, Me and other users asked for Cross-Template Exercise Synchronization. You recently shipped a feature that auto-fills the next set within the current workout. Which is very helpful as well, but we also requested to update exercise metrics across the templates.
Here is the distinction, plain and simple:
The Problem: I follow a PPL routine. If I perform a "Bench Press" in my Push A template and increase the weight to 200lbs, that progress is isolated to Push A Template Only. When I open my Push B or Full Body template a few days later, the "Bench Press" there still shows the old weight (e.g., 190lbs).
The Solution (What we need):
The "Last Done" stats (Weight/Reps/sets) must be tied to the Exercise ID, not the Template ID.
• If I log a set of Squats in Template X, the historical data for Squats must immediately update in Template Y, Template Z, and anywhere else that exercise exists.
• Competitors like Hevy already handle this correctly. If I hit a PR in one routine, my next workout—regardless of the template—should know about it.
Currently, your database seems to treat an exercise within a template as a unique instance. It needs to treat the Exercise as a global master record that all templates subscribe to.
Without this, progressive overload tracking is broken for anyone using multiple templates with overlapping exercises. Please prioritize the global sync of exercise stats across all the templates and the entire app.

Gaurav Singh

Gaurav Singh Thanks so much for the feedback! I’ve created a separate ticket to track this specific request here: https://feedback.bevel.health/feature-requests/p/cross-template-exercise-synchronization

Please add the feature that whenever i “Add an Exercise” either to Workout Template or to a current workout, It should automatically fetch the weight, sets and reps values from last workout of that exercise. It should NOT show the default weight, Reps and sets values when add an exercise with workout history in past.
Also, Add the Notes feature so we can add custom notes to exercise.
Also, I am requesting for easy reorder of exercise by “touch and hold” to drag up or down to reorder the exercises.
The current exercise getting performed should be on TOP and the completed exercise should go below

Workout weight and reps automatically adjust.

When using the workout feature it would be nice if the weight that is set to log would automatically adjust to the last weight logged for that set. For example if I had the weight set to log at 70 lbs but did 75 and logged that for the first set it would automatically adjust the second and third set to be 75 lbs. Further more, what if for both the weight and reps the app took your progress and adjusted/ suggested the amount of weights and reps. This could also include having your first set be heavier, logging that amount of reps done, comparing that number to what rep range you should be in, and deciding/suggesting if the second and third set should be higher weight or lower weight to maximize gains.

Prefill New Templates with Last Used Weights & Reps
Eric Z
When adding an exercise to a new template, if I’ve done it before, please prefill the fields with my most recently logged weight and reps instead of defaulting to 20 lbs / 12 reps (with an optional toggle to disable).
This would speed template creation and better reflect real training history. Until these are implemented, I’m sticking with Strong since it handles templates and progression more efficiently. I’d love to fully migrate to Bevel once this workflow is smoother.

Auto-Update Templates from Workout Progress

Hello Bevel Team,
I’d like to suggest a new feature that would significantly improve the workflow for users who train with recurring templates (e.g. Upper/Lower, Push/Pull/Legs).
Currently, when I complete a workout and increase the weight or reps for an exercise, I have to manually go back and update my saved template. This becomes repetitive and time-consuming over time.
Proposed feature:Add a button or option during or after a workout that allows the user to automatically save the latest performed sets (weight/reps) directly into the selected template.
Example:I train using an Upper/Lower split. If during my Upper workout I increase the weight on Bench Press by +2 kg, after finishing the set and entering weight + reps, I would like to tap a button such as:
“Save this as new template value”
This would:
- Keep templates always up to date
- Remove manual editing steps
- Support progressive overload naturally
- Greatly improve usability for users training with structured plans
This could be implemented as:
- A toggle in workout settings
- A per-exercise button
- Or a post-workout prompt: “Update template with today’s best sets?”
Thank you for building such a great app — this feature would make Bevel even more powerful for serious training.
Best regards,
N

Personally I use the template as a boiler plate for the day (ie. Arm day, leg day, etc.), then I just adjust as I go with what I actually do that day. Set entry is pretty quick once you have the exercise in but what’s the most frustrating is that I can’t track my workout details with my Apple Fitness session that I started. So I end up starting session on my watch with all the watch vital details and another workout in Bevel with all the actual workout journal details and then I end up with 2 sessions each with data the other needs. Is there a way to automatically merge these or at the very least manually merge them? Is there a better way for me to accomplish what I need?

On this, it would be very nice if you could link to strength standards for each exercise (by weight/gender/age), give each user a ranking for each of their lifts, allow a user to set goals to get stronger and reach a higher standard, and the app automatically suggest the progressive overload strategy each time you start a workout (tells you do this many reps at this weight)
