Live information during the exercise of the degree of effort achieved

That the application notifies us live, during the exercise, if we have entered the desired effort threshold and also when we exceed the calculated effort threshold for the day, warning us of when we may become overtrained.

Start activity in app, set goal of completing strain

When starting the activity you could choose option of “workout to strain” and it would notify you when you hit strain minimum. Whoop has a similar feature

Live strain progress during strength workouts

It would be helpful if strain updated accurately and in real time during Strength Builder workouts. Right now, strain increases slowly while training and then jumps significantly once the workout is completed. Real-time updates would make it easier to adjust effort mid-session and stay within my target strain range without overdoing it.

Strain control on watch

I’d like to control strain during the workout right on the watch. How about that

I was gonna suggest this, I agree that e xpTRIMP would be useful, and I also prefer it because it’s validated by science and it’s standardised which is exactly what you want in anything science/health related.
Ideally we would have in the home screen a TRIMP score for the week so we know when to back off or push, if not, at least I would love to have TRIMP showing inside my training sessions.
I get that strain is good, but for those who are more science focused might prefer it… I think in the end both would be good, strain tells me how my day (exercise + life) are affecting me, wile TRIMp focuses solely on that training session specifically (isolated)

Thanks for the suggestion, Andrew Leonard! Tracking workouts with Superset is coming soon. You’ll be able to view the live Strain score.
However, I’m unsure if I want to include TRIMP in the app yet. I think it clutters the app and is confusing with the Strain score. However, it is used at the moment to calculate Training Load, ATL, and CTL.
Let me know if you think otherwise.

Grey: understand not wanting to clutter. I prefer TRIMP score during exercise as it directly impacts my Training Load. I’ve never been a big fan of strain type scores since each app does it slightly differently. While TRIMP can be calculated a few ways, it’s a standard formula I across the fitness world which one can look up and understand. If I see TRIMP during a workout, I can fine tune my intensity and time while understanding how the workout fits within my fitness level. At the end of the day, I want to measure my workout against my training load versus an arbitrary score. Few other reasons I prefer but I’ll leave it at that! I very well may be in the minority here too.

Andrew Leonard: I would do both optional
Leave the choice to the user
Ryan Burns
Andrew Leonard I came here to say exactly this. I roughly know my trimp score I want before I start each training session. Based on Training load I need to increase fitness & keep Training monotony from going too high. Would be a really useful option for serious fitness enthusiasts
