When setting a default journal entry with quantitative values, don't select a time.

I have several quantitative based journal entries that make me set a time when the default value is set to 0. This is less than clear since logging a non-binary with a value of 0 can't technically happen at a set time, since it didn't happen.
Edit - I also just realized that this creates a "log" of 0 in both Bevel and Apple Health. This is just noise since it didn't actually happen. It would be nice to not have this extra visual noise.

Thank you for answering. I understand that Apple Health needs a timestamp for data entry. But the front end user experience does not have to equal the back end experience.
I still believe that a default entry of 0 when a thing didn't occur doesn't map to how reality works. I cannot not drink water at a certain time, it's impossible. I think it would make more sense to be able to have a default entry as "I did not do this thing today" rather than a default entry of 0 and then if I do that thing change the entry to having done the thing. That would map to how the real world works and would require less work from me and therefore increase accuracy in the logging.
Thank you for considering.

Hi Conner D, We log a 0 when a user selects "I did not do X today" to differentiate between actively choosing not to consume something (e.g., caffeine) and simply not logging it.
Since Bevel integrates directly with Apple Health for items like alcohol, water, and caffeine, a timestamp is required for the data to be logged. However, if you use the "I did not do X" button, it will automatically set the entry for noon without needing to manually select a time.
I hope this explains it for you. I will pre-close this ticket for now.
